Barcelona’s ghoulish ghost tours

It is a dark, damp October evening, the air lies heavy with fog and I find myself loitering nervously on the Plaça Reial for a man I have been previously acquainted with only by name. Nervously, because this is exactly the sort of climatic condition and location for the set of a classical horror movie (Ancient, labyrinth-esque alleyways? Check. Isolated, gloomy and cold? Check. They didn’t film Perfume here for nothing…). And with a name like Tyler McGee, I’m not entirely convinced that a spritely, clover-clad Irishman jubilantly guiding me through the Gothic quarter (as he clarifies the nuances of eighth century witchcraft and bloodshed) would be up to the job.

A gory film fest at the Antic Teatre

This Halloween prepare yourselves for short, sharp bursts of gore, blood and guts in the shape of a locally-produced, low budget cortometraje (short film) festival at the Antic Teatre. Straddling the Gotic/Borne district, the Antic Teatre is a hidden gem of cultured performance-art shows, and is one of the few real “creation” hubs in the centre of the city with an in-house theatre.
