Sonar Festival 2009. June 18, 19 and 20, 2009
The start of summer in Barcelona looks like a postcard, smells like the ocean and sounds like… Sonar. Yes folks, time flies and The International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Arts is upon us again. Major names in electronica and rising stars destined for all tomorrow’s parties will mingle with around 80 thousand partygoers. Nobody in his or her right mind could have an excuse big enough to miss it!
3 gloriously long days and nights of sonic mayhem are guaranteed to stir the imagination and get the feet thumping, and this year’s line up pulls no punches. Featured artists include Orbital, Richie Hawtin, Grace Jones, Animal Collective and Jeff Mills. A BBC Showcase and a special concert by Lars Horntveth + BCN216 are being sprinkled on top for good measure.
Sonar by Day takes pace at the CCCB – Macba, while Sonar by Night transcends to La Fira Gran Via M2 in L’Hospitalet. A 3-day ticket to the electronic extravaganza, by day and by night, will set you back 140 Euros. Individual day and night passes cost 30 and 40 euros respectively.
