Lunch made with Love at Organic
Don’t Panic! There’s always Organic!
This contemporary, inviting restaurant with its contemporary and wholesome philosophy is considered an essential grazing point for many locals (hence the fact that every time I visit, I see a selection of regular faces, in fact I may well be one of them.)
The delightful lunch buffet will set you back around 12 euros with a drink, and opens with a sumptuous salad buffet, including fresh walnut-bread, a hearty soup of the day pulses, rice and a diverse selection of veggies.
This is followed by a choice of multi-cultural homemade dishes from the open kitchen, which includes two staples, a house specialty of rice, algae’s and vegetables, a vegetarian pizza or two other plates, which vary according to the day. Dessert is a selection of cakes, if you can fit them in, and if not, don’t worry, they’ll let you take them home.
The owner, Antonia, is often to be seen eating in her bustling, warm open-plan restaurant at lunchtime ( which is a good sign), and chatting to customers. With her bright clothes and imaginative hair sculptures, you can hardly miss her. Antonia’s philosophy is simply that good food contains love, and that eating well should not cost a fortune. If you miss lunch, a tempting selection of evening meals is served from an a la carte menu, from 8:30pm .
A good selection of herbal teas and other organic products are available at the checkout and massages can be booked in advance. Organic has recently branched out and now has a sandwich bar at La Boquería market, a tapas bar on Calle Pintor Fortuny, and a cookery school in the pipeline. A catering service is also offered.
The diversity, creativity of the cuisine and the positive vibrations from this place will certainly appeal to any palette, whether you’re a herbivore or not. Just don’t ask for a Coca-Cola or an ashtray…
